Monovision Lasik Success Evaluated

Women tend to accept monovision more than men.

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology

Peer reviewed study indicates when monovision Lasik may work best.

IRVINE Calif., June 2009, /Current Opinion in Ophthalmology/  -- The role of age, sex, ocular dominance, amount of monovision, and hyperopic (farsighted, longsighted) versus myopic (nearsighted, shortsighted) treatments is reviewed and reported in the July 2009 issue of Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, a peer reviewed medical journal.

The presbyopic female patient is more likely to accept monovision. Patients with a strong sighting preference experience more blur with monovision. Although myopes represent the majority of monovision patients, laser-corrected monovision in hyperopes is a viable and satisfactory option.

For details see monovision.
