eyeball bleeding?

Postby eggroll » Mon Nov 26, 2007 11:27 pm

ok, so i saw this one guy's lasik surgery on youtube and when they used microkeratome (is that what it's called?) to make the flap, his eyeball started bleeding from the blade. i guess his surgery went fine, but i didn't know it's supposed to bleed?! i'm getting really nervous about this, will intralace also cause it to bleed? maybe i should get blade-free lasik?

Extensive use of low DK contact lenses or contact lens abuse will block oxygen from reaching the cornea. To supply oxygen, blood vessels will form and reach into the cornea. This is called corneal neurovascularization. When the Lasik flap is created these blood vessels can be cut and bleed.

So long as the liquid (any kind of liquid) is removed from the laser treatment area there should be no problem with the surgery.
