Has anyone here had the surgery with this kind of machine??

I am in Canada and it cost over 4600 for both eyes to be done with this machine.

I am scheduled to have this done on Thursday Oct 9th at 9:00 am lol
and just found this site which is soooo helpful to all of us.
Thanks
Carol

I'm glad you are finding this website valuable.

The Alcon LADARVision 6000 excimer laser was recalled by the US Food and Drug Administration due to a major defect in its ablation pattern that could lead to central islands. It is my understanding that the US and Canadian versions are exactly the same, however I may be wrong and/or the Canadian version may have had upgrades to resolve the problem. The Alcon LADARVision 4000 does not have the central island problem.

You may want to talk with your doctor about this particular laser.

Hello
Yes i am glad i found this site! The Alcon Ladar6000 Custom Cornea System the same as you are talking of? they say its the latest generation of technology approved for full range of wavefront treatmens by the FDA and they say they are the first and only centre in canada to offer this remium technology. This is a very very highly respectable Cornea surgeon.
This along with the IntraLase? mmmm...
now you have me wondering !

You need to talk with your doctor about the US LADARVision 6000 recall. I am not as familiar with the Canadian version, but my recollection is that they are the same.

The femtosecond laser is used to create the Lasik flap. Intralase is one manufacturer. See All-Laser Lasik for details.
