Trying with contacts but corrected gives wide spread

Postby merbel » Tue Oct 14, 2008 9:29 pm

I am near sighted with -4.25 right (dominant) and -2.75 left. Trying monovision with contacts. Dropped to -4.0 right and am at -1.25 left. Tried --4.25/-1.0 but am trying to decrease the spread. Still feels a bit odd. Close up OK but distance an issue. No headaches, dizziness. Just doesn't seem to mesh. Can get by but not ideal.
Thoughts? Try crossed monovision and make left eye distance? Sacrifice near vision and go up on left eye to -2?
Thanks

It sounds like you are on the right track. Monovision is a trade-off. Something is not going to be as excellent, either distance vision or near vision. To some degree, all distances will have a bit of "not as excellent". That is the trade-off to be able to see adequately at many distances.

Switching eye really does not make sense. The dominant eye seems to do much better when fully corrected for distance.
