LASIK and Ju-Jitsu/Submission wrestling

How long after surgery can I return to Brazillian Ju-Jitsu? The sport is similar to wrestling with less rules and involves squeezing out of headlocks and other things that put pressure on the face and head. Thanks.

The first step of Lasik is the creation of a flap of corneal tissue. The Lasik flap is repositioned over the treatment area after the laser energy is applied.

The Lasik flap heals, but it is not like a scratch on your arm. It is always different. It may be that a surface ablation technique like PRK, LASEK, or Epi-Lasik would be more appropriate. These techniques do not use the Lasik flap and therefor you would have no possibility of a Lasik flap dislocation problem. This is an important issue for someone who is involved in contact sports.
