Why does drops clear vision?

Postby PRK_EYES » Mon Oct 13, 2008 7:28 pm

I am 2 weeks post PRK now.
My vision becomes very clearly after FML or Bion tear drops.
A little bit of double vision.

I used contact lens (bandages) from my doctor to boost my vision.
The contact lens is -0.25, so I can drive to work.
The doctor told me the surface need to smooth out the peaks & valley.
It is still an uneasy feeling if this is could be a permanent condition.

It takes up to 3 months for the epithelial layer (the very surface of your eye) to smooth out for the most part and then residual healing for a year and some people ever longer.

So to your answer your question since with PRK that surface was destroyed it has been growing back ever sinse and it grows back irregularly which causes "light splatter" on the back of your eye.

So when you put in drops it smoothes out the surface of your eye allowing the light to focus more sharly on the back of your eye.

At 2 weeks out you are really early in the healing process and I can attest to it being a bumpy ride for the first 3 months (some people longer and some people shorter).

Good luck with your healing.
