Light sensitivity is often a symptom of inflammation (corneal edema). The steroid eye drops used after Lasik to help control the healing process can also cause light sensitivity.

The Intralase femtosecond laser that may be used for All-Laser Lasik can cause light sensitivity that can be short-lived or last for several months. Patients who have this Transient Light Sensitivity Syndrome (TLSS) may need very dark sunglasses whenever they even think of being outdoors, but it does resolve with healing.
