hi glenn,

i am curious what would be the risks or problems with someone having an unplanned pregnancy with in 6 months of getting prk done.

do the hormones interfer with healing?

During pregnancy and lactation hormones can run amuck. This can cause wide fluctuations in visual acuity. The difficulty is determining if postoperative refractive error is due to a missed target, or if it is due to fluctuating hormones. You would not want to have enhancement surgery during this variable state.

The other concern would be if medications required for PRK recovery would be problematic for the pregnancy. There are none that come to mind, but I'm sure everyone would prefer to not take any chances.
