Custom Lasek on 2/21/2007 and blurred vision

Postby KK_Holiday » Wed Mar 21, 2007 3:50 am

My vision is blurred near and far. I cannot see the computer. I have tried using reading glasses this does not help. I cannot read road signs until I am 100 ft away from them. My vision seemed like it was getting better 3 weeks after the surgery. Then on the fourth week, it started to regress. I have started using Restasis on 3/20/2007. My doctor says my eyes are healing very slowly probably due to the dry eyes. On the initial follow-up visit, I was able to look through a spoon like object with holes in it. Through this object, I was able to see clearly. The doctor assured me this is how my vision will be once the cornea has healed. At home, I use a humidifier and sleep with goggles. At night, I used the Refresh Liquigel. During the day, I use Refresh Tears. Should I be worried or should I just give my cornea time to heal?

Dry eyes can cause or exacerbate the vision problems you describe. If you have not already, read our article about dry eye treatment.

You are one month postop today. That is too early to come to a conclusion about your final outcome. Report changes to your doctor, follow your doctor's advice, diligently manage your dry eye, and if you do not see noticeable improvement at three months postop, ask your doctor for a referral to a cornea specialist for a second opinion.
