Birth Control and Lasik

Postby svoboda » Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:59 pm

Hi - I was on birth control for a few years before I had Lasik. I have had great vision (except for some black spot "floaters") for 2+ years. I went off the pill recently and now my eyes seem to be getting worse. I had a vision check up and a prescription was needed. Is it possible that going off the pill has had this affect on my vision?

Thanks,

Blurry Vision

Absolutely. Hormone changes commonly lead to vision changes. It is not too uncommon for the optometrist to be the first to be able to tell someone they may be pregnant! See Lasik and Hormones and Lasik and pregnancy for details about the most common forms of these changes.
