Enhancement for about 0.75 diopter...

Postby ToolBoy » Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:35 pm

Need enhancement... Got eyes dilated two days ago and had psycho refraction or something. Not sure what that means.

Didn't attempt to get monovision in the beginning, but left eye OS ended up that way. I can't handle it, because it seems like too much of a difference. I heard women handle monovision well, but I can't take it.

When eyes were dilated, I was an OS -1.00.

Just went to get glasses prescription today and the below are the numbers. I get enhanced 21 Jan. I'm assuming they will do no more than 1.00, maybe 0.75 OS. Don't want to get overcorrected, as I heard that wasn't good.

My question is, what are the chances than my left eye regresses again after the enhancement? This is it no matter what happens, because I don't want to beat up cornea.

I think the subjectivity difference is due to the fact that I overanalyze things. Always did; it's my job and personality nature.

Happy New Year!!

Auto-Refractor:

OD +0.25 -0.50 x172
OS -0.75 -0.25 x155

Subjective:

OD Plano -0.50 x172
OS -1.25 -0.25 x155

Not likely... sometimes with even a light to mod myopia in the beginning, things are not perfect after surgery, due to a plethora of reasons. I can't see (no pun intended) regression happening this time, but I will keep you informed. My right eye is still laserlike, relative to anything in the past, even with former glasses, and even with the slight induced astig from surgery, which actually helps my right eye revert to plano.

There is absolutely no doubt that I will need approx +1.25 reading glasses though afterwards, but I know that going in.

Chopped me up... naaa, just teasin'...

Gave me some Xanax mild, so I was all calm, checking out the pink elephants. Stuck a 2 inch pin in my eye to loosen up original flap, and lasered me out. Took 7 seconds with the laser. Doc counted down from seven. Did all the drops (Zymar and Omnipred). Vision in left eye is absolutely perfect now distance-wise. Need reading glasses, but would have needed them anyway.

+0.25 SPH... no astig now. Vision in left eye like a laser, pardon the pun. Perfection in left eye.

Originally had about -4.5s with astig. With Wavefront, it's tough to perfect the first time when you have moderate myopia and are over 40. I can tell this time there will be no regression. Left eye is absolutely perfect, right has regressed just a bit from original surgery, but I don't think it will be touched even if I ask. I am going to ask though tomorrow, at one week appt.

After one week check on left eye after enhancement. Perfect. Doc saw nothing... no astig, nothing. Vision feels great! I have never seen better!

Congratulations. I'm glad to hear your procedure went well. Perhaps a touchup would help me with my problems. Your result has pushed me more in that direction, though dryness may be my main problem and another surgery could conceivably make that worse. But enough about me. I am writing to congratulate you! It's nice to see that things can work out for some. So again, congratulations.

Thanks Dan. After the enhancement, my eye wasn't dry. I used the drops just in case though. But after the original surgery, I used the non-preservative drops for about 6 months...

Maybe that will help you in your decision.

Hi Toolboy,
I'm going to have my 'retouch' in May. One eye only.
Wish me luck! My dry eye seems a lot better (it took about 8 months)

Hi Toolboy,
Had my one eye re-zap 10d ago, first time my sight regressed in both eyes really quickly but this time I'm still sharp at 20/25 and 20/20 with a drop.
Dry eye was terrible first time but not half as bad this time, although I know the eye is dry as they said so at my 24h check. I'm being very pro-active with preservative drops.
I'm trying monovision (the eye for distance was done), I still have close vision with the other eye.
Hope all is well with you.
