hot tub

Postby bada5150 » Tue Feb 13, 2007 12:09 am

Glenn,
I have read somewhere that I shouldn't go into hot tub for 4 weeks after surgery. And I just read that hot tub is recommended in one of these posts.
What is the reason that I can not go into hot tub for 4 weeks after surgery since hot tub is very humid place?

Thank you

Hi,

Not Glenn here.

But, I'll give it a shot-
I bet a hot tub would raise your blood pressure and therefore your internal eye pressure. :?

Just a geuss.

Chlorinated water, or worse the stuff that can be in water, is not good for eyes that have just had surgery. Even if you did not submerge your face, the steam from a hot tub or spa could be problematic.

Hi Glenn- I thought about the chlorine but, my recovery sheet says I can swim after 2 weeks! Why do they say that if chlorine is an issue?

Curious minds want to know-

Well, I guess there is mixed info on high blood pressure and hot tubs. It seems only untreated hypertensive people need to worry about it. Hot tubs lower bp when used for short times according to one study in 2002.

I had erroneously thoguht hottubs raised bp along with body temp.
