If I become more nearsighted years after getting Lasik, will I be unable to wear contacts because of the surgery and have to wear glasses instead?

Contacts can be successfully prescribed for nearly all patients who have had prior Lasik, IntraLasik, PRK, LASEK, or Epi-Lasik. In some cases specialized contacts may be needed, but often the common soft disposables are fine. Contacts are often prescrived for the unfortunate few who have a poor refractive surgery outcome.

Discuss this issue in detail with your surgeon before having surgery. If there is something unusual about your eyes or the expected curvature of your cornea after surgery, your doctor should be able to tell you before you make a final decision.
