Concerned about allergies - Lasik Oct. 3rd.

First of all, thank you to everyone at this site, it is very informative and has already helped me a great deal in evaluation of surgeons. I believe I have found one who is a good fit for me, and a cornea specialist. My prescription is -2.25 x -1 x 90, and -2.75 x -1.50 x 90. The doctor did tell me that my astigmatism will be a little tricky to correct in the right eye. It will be custom view. Cornea thickness was around 543 (they took several readings so I assume this is an average?) Pupil size was 6.
The main thing that I am wondering about it how allergies will have an effect. I get the itchy, gunky eyes, mostly in spring and summer and use claratin and occasional opcon-A drops. Dr. says that once healed, those drops are okay. Wouldn't this cause more dry eye symptoms? The timing should be optimal for minimal allergies. Has anyone else with "allergy eyes" had the procedure? Also I am 35. I work retail, and contacts mostly drove me crazy the last 5 or so years, mainly because the toric ones that actully corrected my vision well didn't stay in place well at all. So being able to see pretty good without them or glasses will be great for me. My husband actually got it done in May and was one of the "20 minute" people. His myopia was kind of high (-6 ) but very little astigmatism, and he doesn't get any allergies either...so he's no help on that question. Sorry this is long, but I would appreciate any comments....
Thanks,
Amy

It is great that you are being careful about your allergies and potential concerns with Lasik. Lasik can induce dry eyes for a period of time and if compounded with allergies and allergy medication, your eyes could be pretty angry. Your usual allergy medication should be okay if you have a full recovery after Lasik, however if you have long-term dry eyes (relatively low probability) allergy season will likely be a bit worse than normal.

Thanks Glenn,

I think I am starting to "over think" it. I'm sure that everything will
be fine. ....
