Scarring? Astigmatism? at 6 months out?

Postby Jules » Wed Sep 12, 2007 9:23 pm

Long story short, I had my Lasik at the end of March and am still not able to drive at night because of the glare and halos - also, I'm still having issues w/ clarity and not being able to see clear in dimly lit rooms or stores. (For all the females out there, I can't even see clearly enough in the mirror to pluck my own eyebrows! :)

So.....I went back to the Lasik center and the "doctor" told me I had 20/20 vision in both eyes and there was nothing more that they could do. I told her, clearly I don't have 20/20 vision or else I wouldn't have problems! (I refuse to see this "doctor" the next time I go in by the way.) All she could do when I explained myself was nod her head and say there's nothing more we can do. Anyway, I ended up in tears and sat there until she gave me a reasonable answer. So, I'm going back in for more "tests" or pictures to be taken of my eyes in 2 weeks.

So....I then scheduled an exam w/ my regular eye doc and he did tell me I have scarring in both eyes and that my right eye is actually 20/20 but the left is not. He gave me a prescription for eye glasses that said -75x66 - does anyone know what this means? Am I -.75 in my left eye?
I still have astigmatism in my left eye as well.
Am I still correctable w/ an enhancement? What causes the scarring?

Anyway, I'm not going to say anything when I go back to the Lasik center about seeing my regular eye doc.

If anyone has any comments/suggestions or similar situations, it'd be cool to know I'm not the only one out there.... Thanks! :)

p.s. If you're in Portland, OR, I can tell you where not to go for your sugery.

Blurry vision

Postby Katie02 » Thu Sep 13, 2007 4:09 am

I had my surgery one month ago and still experiencing problem driving at night because of bluriness. My vision is still not as crisp as it was before with corrected contact lenses. I had my third week check up last week and according to my doctor, my vision is 20/25. I asked if my problem was attributed to dryness. She told me that my eyes were not dry. Every time I put eye drop in my eyes, my vision becomes really clear for one minute or two. I too live in Pdx. Jules, do you mind telling me who your doctor was?

Sorry to hear about your unsatisfactory lasik. Mine wasn't easy from the start either back in June 2006. I eventually found my way to one of the best lasik surgeons in the country for the correct answer and piece of mind.
Find a corneal specialist in order to make sure all is on order and then go see one of the better lasik surgeons in the country.
Hopefully, one day more quality information will be readily available so all will choose the best lasik surgeons and all these others fall to the wayside.
I have microstriae, residual astigmatism, starbursts at night, see better with tears, some other visual stuff I never had before and definitely saw better with my contacts and glasses.
Things will eventually settle with time and the two options I mentioned above will definitely get you to where you want to go faster than dealing with someone who doesn't know and wasting your time and money.
I plan on going back to the new lasik surgeon I found and getting it done correctly.
