Keratonus

I am a 43 male & had lasik surgery in 2002. My left eye now has 20/400 fision. I am using a contact lense to correct the vision. My surgeon has told me I have keratoconus. He says the lasik surgery is not responsible for my condition as I would be in the same situation without the surgery. I can not believe the surgery did not induce my problem. Is their any way my surgeon can be right??

Keratoconus is a disease that causes a weakening of the cornea. Lasik can exacerbate keratoconus, but does not "cause" keratoconus. Pre-diagnosed keratoconus is a contraindication for Lasik, but it there may not have been signs of keratoconus at the time you had surgery.
