corneal swelling and other issues

Ok, I'm not sure that I am receiving a full story here but I seem to be having some serious issues with corneal swelling and they are having me return to be monitored 4 times in 5 days. Apparently, the swelling was slightly improving between Friday and Saturday after I stopped the steroids but as of today (Monday), it seems to be staying the same/getting worse and so I need to return tomorrow. When I ask directly, they are telling me not to be too concerned but they are taking my case very seriously and the surgeon will be coming in again on his day off just to see me. To me, that says that this isn't good. Why are they so concerned about the corneal swelling? By the way, I've seeing 20/30 with my right eye and 20/50 (hardly) with my left eye consistently but apparently the issue they are seeing is the same in both eyes.

I inquired about DLK and one dr said it could be stage I and the surgeon said to some it may seem like that but he is looking really carefully and to him it just looks like just swelling.

Does anyone have any idea what I may be dealing with here? I'm going to see my regular opthamologist today even though he's not a lasik specialist to get his opinion on what I should be doing since I think if there is no improvement tomorrow that he's going to want to lift the flap and rinse it out since that is what he said he might do Sat if he didn't see improvement.

Sounds like you may have some minor complications.....but the good news is that you seem to have a very attentive surgeon....who is monitoring you frequently to avoid serious complications. I too had some complications....I actually had spontaneous flap dislocation just a couple of hours after the procedure. It was very scary....but I was brought back into the OR immediately where my flaps were fixed, and bandaged with a lense. I too am at risk for eptih. ingrowth and other various things because of this....and have had to be monitored closely. Don't panic....it sounds like you are in good hands...and that it can be fixed. You're also doing the right thing by getting more than one opinion. Hang in there.....and keep us updated. I know it's scary....but it sounds like you have a good eye MD.
