Weak Epithelial Layer?

Postby tinapomp » Tue May 13, 2008 12:35 am

My husband had Lasik surgery on Friday afternoon. The doctor said that he had weak epithelials in both eyes, and consequently the one in his right eye wouldn't stay in place and had to be removed. Now he has significantly blurry vision in that eye. The doctor said today that his epithelial in that eye has grown back, but he still has blurry vision in that one eye. His vision in that eye has gotten better since Saturday morning, but my question is... will his vision finally clear up so that the blurriness is gone, or is this something that is permanent?

Also, does anyone know how long it would take for that layer to heal?

Thanks very much!

It grows back in about 3-5 days.

It then takes up to a year to thicken and smooth but the major portion of that occurs in the first 3 months.

His blurriness right now is most likely due to the irregularness of the epithelial layer. It does get better it just takes time.
