Only a small percentage of refractive surgeons are certified by our organization. Our certification is not a requirement to perform refractive surgery and is totally voluntary.

Just because a doctor is not USAEyes certified does not mean that s/he is not a good doctor. There are many reasons why a doctor may choose not to become certified by our organization. Some doctors have become certified but no longer participate. Again, there can be a number of reasons for a formerly certified doctor to no longer be certified. As a matter of policy, we do not provide why a doctor is not certified, we only state if a doctor is certified.

There are other certification programs that indicate a doctor's quality that should be considered too.
