Dr. Michael Mockovak underwent refractive surgery
himself in 2000 and continues to enjoy clear vision
without glasses or contacts. He and his wife Heather
have a young daughter, Marie-Claire. In his free time,
Dr. Mockovak enjoys spending time with his family, skiing
and playing tennis.
Dr. Michael Mockovak graduated from the Yale University
of School of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate
medical and surgical internship at the Illinois Masonic
Hospital, and a three year ophthalmology residency program
at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Hospital,
both in Chicago. Prior to concentrating on refractive
surgery, Dr. Mockovak performed pediatric eye surgery
at Children’s Memorial Hospital as a faculty member
of Northwestern University. He completed a LASIK fellowship
at the Phillips Eye Institute in Minneapolis, and addition
refractive training at the Casebeer Eye Institute in
Arizona.
With the experience of over 30,000 laser vision correction
procedures, Dr. Michael Mockovak is one of the most
experienced laser eye surgeons in North America. Over
the course of his career, Dr. Mockovak has served as
Medical Director at two of the busy laser eye surgery
centers in the United States. He is certified and has
performed surgeries on most leading laser systems including
Bausch and Lomb, VISX , Alcon LadarVision, and Nidek.
Dr. Mockovak is also a refractive surgery patient. His
surgery was broadcast live on the internet in the year
2000.
