Erlangen Germany, April 6, 2006. WaveLight AG (listed in the
Prime Standard of the Deutsche Börse AG) takes the opportunity today
of announcing that Wade S. Tetsuka will step down effective as of
this day as President of its U.S. subsidiary, WaveLight, Inc. Tetsuka
has been in charge of marketing and sales activities at the U.S.
subsidiary since August 2003.
In the context of a thoroughgoing realignment of its marketing
strategy in the United States, WaveLight will temporarily fill the
position vacated by Tetsuka with an experienced staff member from
its corporate headquarters in Erlangen, Germany. Effective immediately,
Ralph Sättele will take charge of business affairs at the U.S. subsidiary.
In performing his duties, Sättele will work in close consultation
with the CEO of WaveLight AG. After initially serving as an assistant
to the CEO in Erlangen, Sättele later took charge of business development
for the company’s Ophthalmology Division.
“The U.S. market is an exceedingly important sales region for
WaveLight AG,” Max Reindl, CEO of WaveLight AG said by way of explaining
the move. “With new highly capable individuals, a heightened degree
of enthusiasm, and enhanced efforts to better exploit the vast market
potential, we will respond to the decline in the demand for the
correction of visual disorders that was seen in the last few months.”
