San Diego, Calif.- March 16, 2007- Glenn Kawesch, MD, 46, a high
profile California eye surgeon who listed among his patients Jessica
Simpson, Taye Diggs as well as former San Diego Padres and Chargers
players, has been found dead.
According to Mexican authorities, Dr. Kawesch was found dead
at approximately 10:30am in his room at the Mexican coastal resort
of Playa del Carmen, about an hour drive south of Cancun.
A preliminary report indicates Dr. Kawesch died from a heart
attack around 5:00am. Foul play is not indicated, there was no sign
of violence. When found, Dr. Kawesch was lying peacefully in his
bed. Death appears to be from natural causes.
Dr. Kawesch attended medical school at Northwestern University
in Chicago. He continued his studies performing research in ophthalmology
at the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Dr. Kawesch trained as a Lasik
surgeon with an internship at the University of California at Los
Angeles with additional ophthalmology residency at the University
of California at San Diego.
Gary Kawesch, MD, brother of Glenn Kawesch, is a prominent San
Jose, Calif. Lasik surgeon and will continue his brother's medical
practice.
