Enhancements

In regards to enhancements:
Does it matter that they are done with the same machine (ie VISX CustomVue etc)
I initially had it with VISX CustomVue, but if I decide to get an enhancement will be using the LadarVision Custom Cornea.
Also, CustomVue didn't get me the right result how will another custom procedure ensure better results even if it is with a top surgeon?
How does the surgeons experience and skill come into play if a Custom procedure is being done?
Also, what are all the risks in getting an enhancement?
Are they all the same as the initial procedure?
The big one I often read about is cell ingrowth - What others?

It's not uncommon for enhancements to be done with a different laser. Depending on what the reason is for having the enhacement you'll have to use a different laser or you won't be able to acheive the desired results.

Two questions:
1. What is the reason for your enhancement?
2. Is it going to be the Ladarvision 4000 or the 6000?

Is it the same surgeon, and why did he recommend the Ladarvision this time? Better for HOA, maybe? Or is it a different surgeon?

I haven't had an enhacement so I can't comment on that. But I also had the Visx customvue treatment, and the results vision wise are excellent, but I'm still dealing with dry eye which is causing me problems(occasional bad vision, bad night vision). Once my tear production is back to normal I should have an excellent outcome. I'm still only at the 4 month mark.

Got an exam by a corneal specialist. He told me everything looked excellent, and my surgeon did a perfect job. He basically thinks dryness, which I definately have, can be the only thing causing it. Everything else looks perfect and I don't have any corneal irregularities.

One more thing I would like to add which I forgot to say earlier. Since, as you stated, you're very serious and not going screw around this time, I can tell it's very important to get the correct results. Which must mean you're also very weary of the possibility of an enhancement making things worse. Based on that, if you do have enhancement surgery, I would strongly suggest you consider having only one eye done at a time. Do your non-dominant eye, and then see what the results are. If they are better, then schedule to have your other eye done. But, if your fears come true, and you do end up worse, then you just saved your dominant eye the same fate as the other one.

Just food for thought. That is certainly what I would do. Talk to your doctor about it.

I do plan on doing one eye at a time and then deciding on the other one.
My dominant eye is the one that is worse, which makes sense to do first.

I had an enhancement.

The Dr. gave me some papers for the informed consent that showed results/risks for enhancements that differed from original surgery. Can't recall the details, but it was enhancement-specific.

You may want to ask pre-enhancement if they have such info and study it in advance of the day of the enhancement.
