Silicone Plugs

Postby Betty39 » Mon Oct 08, 2007 5:12 am

Hi Glenn,

I think I was told my silicone plugs were "permanent" but could be removed if it was ever necessary. On another web site someone posted their doctor told them silicone plugs would last 12 to 18 months. I didn't think they ever dissolved. What's the truth?

Thanks in advance for you help!

Dissolvable punctal plugs tend to be made from polymers or animal collagen. They dissolve in 10 to 180 days, depending upon the type of material used. Silicone plugs are permanent (removable). I was unable to find a dissolving silicone punctal plug.
